The backyard has been greatly improved by the addition of a sunshade over my hammock. The awning keeps the sun off during the hottest part of the day (noon to four) and makes the yard much more liveable. 
Hostas and ground covers are doing well in the side yard. This used to be a dog run with dead grass that did not give a person any reason to walk down the path. Weigela plants are in bud - blooms should be out soon. These plants are a favorite with hummingbirds.
