Summer is here

It is super hot here which is great. Summer is here!!!!! I love not having cold feet any more. I also love having all the windows open and the breeze blowing through the house. I even love that I had to turn on the air conditioner the other day. Ahhh, the power of A/C. What a treat.

I had an unwelcome email today from my real estate agent. The person who bought my house wants to send in an appraiser tomorrow to evaluate the price. This seems like a red flag to me since she should have already had her financing confirmed, signed, sealed and guaranteed. I hope that there aren't any hiccups with this sale.

The appraisal could be a problem, if she hasn't already confirmed her financing. The distress sales on the street brought down the value of the appraisal that I had done on the house and I don't want her to get caught in the same trap. Here's hoping for the best tomorrow.

I'm busy at work tomorrow. We are doing parade practices for the change of command parade next week. Today and tomorrow we are wearing our regular combat uniform and comfy boots, but next week the dress uniforms come out. Bad, uncomfortable boots and itchy wool pants. Ugly wedge hat. I don't have any love for the dress uniform although I must admit that it looks good when we have it on with our whites and rifles during parade. Uncomfortable, but sharp looking. Tomorrow is supposed to be really hot so I'm going to spend the rest of the night drinking water and getting hydrated. Dehydration is the enemy.

My fingers are crossed for no trouble from the buyer. I thought they had no conditions? Next week, when you wear your dress uniforms - is it for Canada Day? On Canada Day here I head down to the river valley to watch the fireworks and then run around with sparklers until after midnight. I assume the 'secret patriot' duties at our condo complex this year - planting a Canadian flag on the lawn of each owner. I love doing that - better than scratchy wool. But I would really appreciate any photos you could post of the parade - please??!!!

The appraiser came through the house yesterday and he had his poker face on. I couldn't read his reaction to the house, but he did like one of my paintings. Apparently the artist is his brother in law so we talked about him for a while. Apparently the artist worked at the Dupont factory for 16 years and painted on the side, but he is now selling enough paintings to work full time as an artist. I was really happy to hear his story. I love hearing about people who find a way to follow their dream and do something that they are passionate about.

Hey Patricia, good work on the Canada Day decorations at your community. I have a little flag that I'm going to put up in the front yard to show some spirit. The parade is actually before Canada Day and it is a change of command ceremony at my unit. On Monday, we are having a "practice" parade which doubles as a promotion parade. There are about 50 people getting promoted this year. On Tuesday we are honouring the change over from the previous CO to the new one. I'm not sure if there will be photos but there will be food afterwards so I'm going to make sure that I help myself. So will all my friends. We're all free food eating kind of people, in case you hadn't guessed.

No news from the buyer but a piece of mail addressed to her arrived today from Canada Post. I guess this means that she is planning to move into the house. Keeping my fingers crossed.
