Thanks for the update~ :)

We went to Jessie's father's birthday party this weekend, then out to the countryside for a "world music" festival. Saw some pretty cool bands, but the only name I can remember is the Afro-celt Soundsystem.

Did you have a Thanksgiving meal with friends? Any chance of pics from the meal?

:)

What wonderful photos! Such abundance still in your garden this late in the year is truly something to be thankful for! Save some raspberries for me - they are my very favourite!!!

Chris, I'm glad that you had a chance to get away for a while. Family parties are ok but I bet the music festival would have been really entertaining. I didn't have any turkey for the holiday but I'm almost guaranteed to have some at Christmas time so 2007 won't be a "turkey-less" year.

Patricia, I'm glad that you liked the photos. This garden has brought me a lot of pleasure this summer and I can't wait to see how it comes to life next summer. This was the first growing year for a lot of these plants so they were still establishing their root systems. Next year should be spectacular.

I have also made good progress with weed control in the lawn. It sounds like a small thing but it sure was a lot of work to tame the weed forest.

Did you use chemicals on the weeds or just dig them out as they raised their ugly heads? I once had a garden long enough (on Apache Crescent)to actually have "clean" soil in the veg and flower gardens but that was after many, many summers of weeding carefully and removing the roots as well as the heads of the weeds. I was feeling sort of proud of finally achieving that but then we moved to the Mill Creek ravine and, although I did try, "clean soil" was an impossible dream. But gardening of any sort, even weeding, is sort of like meditating - just a personal time alone with your thoughts.
